I graduated from Cambridge University in 2018 with a degree in English, having been awarded the Eric Pankhurst scholarship for outstanding achievement in the arts at Downing College. Alongside my studies, I was heavily involved in the theatre scene, in particular the musical theatre society and the Cambridge Footlights. Since then, I have gone on to achieve a distinction level Master's degree in theatrical practices from a conservatoire in London and have been working as a tutor of English language, Literature, Drama, Creative Writing and entrance exams for the past 5 years. During the pandemic, I worked alongside Accolade Press to produce a number of GCSE revision guides for set texts on the AQA syllabus, which have been excellently reviewed by students, teachers and parents alike. I believe in tailoring my lessons to match the needs of each individual student, and pride myself on my adaptability to different levels and learning styles.
I have been leading English Language and Literature classes catering to a range of exam boards for the past 5 years for 11+, 13+, 14+, GCSE and A-Level, and have helped students meet or exceed their aspirational grades/scores. Having achieved their target grades/scores, many of my students have gone on to win places at some of the best schools and universities in the country, something of which I am very proud.
I have also led classes with younger students working on English skills from KS2-4.
The majority of my teaching experience is online with international students meaning I am very comfortable leading engaging classes over zoom and tailoring resources and exercises for the virtual classroom.
I have furthermore coached multiple prospective Oxbridge students through the TSA with a 100% success rate. I also offer support with university personal statements and interview preparation. Aside my personal experience as a Cambridge graduate, I also worked for 2 years as a TA for the Linacre Institute, a charity organisation which aims to equip gifted students from underprivileged northern state schools the skills and confidence to apply for Russell Group universities, which involved leading tutorials and mock interviews. 84% of Linacre students win places at the Russell Group universities.
Having achieved a distinction in Performing Arts at Mountview, as well as having worked as a professional actor on London's West End, I can offer tuition in audition-technique and drama/acting skills for a range of needs including drama school auditions, GCSE and A-Level theatre studies and NYT. I have furthermore coached students through LAMDA exams in Public Speaking, Reading for Performance, Speaking Verse and Prose, Shakespeare and Acting, with a 100% pass rate and 93% of my students achieving distinction.
