Service Description

Phase 1: 1-to-3. Phase 1 content. This intensive course is designed for Year 11 students preparing for the IGCSE English Literature exam under the Cambridge IGCSE exam board. The course aims to improve and maximise students' grades by focusing on comprehension and analytical skills. Students will engage with a variety of literary texts, including novels, plays, and poetry, developing their ability to analyse and interpret literature critically. The course is tailored to meet individual student needs, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the IGCSE English Literature exam. This course is also suitable for students taking exams from other boards, with content adapted as necessary. Session 1: Planning an extract question essay Lesson Objective: To be able to plan an extract question essay. Homework: Extract from Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart. Session 2: Structuring a GCSE-level analytical paragraph Lesson Objective: To be able to write IGCSE-level analytical paragraphs. Homework: Extract from Charles Dicken’s Great Expectations . Session 3: Aiming for top grade Lesson Objective: To learn how to boost one’s grades Homework: Extract from Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca Session 4: Planning and writing a whole text question Lesson Objective: To be able to plan a whole text question Homework: Extract from Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Session 5: Assessment. Lesson Objective: To plan and write an IGCSE-level essay. Homework: Extract from H G Wells’s The War of the Worlds.
