Phase 2: It is a 1-to-3 course. Phase 2 This is a 1-to-3 course which is suitable both for students who are applying to grammar schools and those applying to independent schools with a range of written, and multiple choice questions covered. The main focus of the course is building comprehension skills in various forms and learning how to answer a variety of different questions. It will focus primarily on reading and understanding a variety of literature, selecting ideas and information from the text and presenting it in a variety of forms The course includes areas designed to to improve their comprehension skills in all areas and lots of hints and tips for how to boost their mark in an exam situation. We also factor in past papers from a variety of well-known independent schools and grammar schools to prepare the students for the range of exams that they may take. Student to complete Latymer Upper School 11+ (2) paper in advance Session 1: Go over LUS 11+ (2). Discussion of types of multiple-choice questions. HW: Complete North London Girls 11+ 2008 Session 2: Go over NLG 11+ 2008. Discussion of text choices at 11+. HW: Complete North London Girls 11+ 2015 Session 3: Go over NLG 11+ 2015. Focus on selecting and presenting evidence from the text. HW: Complete Alleyn’s School 11+ 2015 Session 4: Go over Alleyn’s School 11+ 2015. Focus on short creative tasks – letter, diary, journal. HW: Complete Manchester Grammar School 11+ 2013 Session 5: Go over Manchester Grammar School 11+ 2013. Focus on writing Point, Evidence, Explanation paragraphs. HW: Complete the Highgate School 11+ Session 6: Go over the Highgate School 11+. Focus on selecting evidence and looking at the effects of language. HW: Attempt Dulwich College 11+ Paper (3) Session 7: Carry on working on Dulwich College 11+ Paper (3) paper together with a focus on writing longer answers, and looking at the effect of language. HW: Attempt Manchester Grammar School 11+ 2019 paper Session 8: Carry on working on Manchester Grammar School 11+ 2019 paper together with a focus on planning and structuring longer answers HW: Finish off remaining parts of the previous two papers. Session 9: Go over final answers for both papers and mark accordingly. HW: Complete The Haberdasher Aske’s Boys School 2014 paper Session 10: Go over The Haberdasher Aske’s Boys School 2014 paper with a focus on explanation and meaning of words and phrases both in and out of context.
