Interview Preparation 13+ This is a 1-to-3 course. Interviews can be tricky and challenging experiences, even for adults. Here, at Leo Tuition, we want to make interviews as pleasant and relaxed as possible as that is when a student can fully and positively express themselves and make an excellent impression. Our interview preparation course consists of four group sessions followed by a final 1-to-1 mock interview (20 mins per student) and a feedback session which will be recorded and given detailed feedback. The four group sessions will briefly look at all the basic aspects of the interview such as family and background, education, extra-curricular activities, why a school has been selected for a student and why they would be a good choice candidate for that school. How to prepare and research for your interview will also be covered. However, the course will mainly focus on the challenging and difficult questions that schools use to determine a candidate’s suitability for their school. Each student will create their own personalised story where they can present themselves at their best and really impress the interviewers. This course is prepared and delivered by Matthew, our Academic Director, who has interviewed hundreds of prospective students at several different UK independent schools. Students will need a working Googlemail email account to be able to fully access this course through Google Docs. Session 1 General Interview Questions: You, Your Family and Your Life, Your Education and Extra-Curricular Lesson Objective: To discuss yourself, your family and your life as a group and focus on presenting yourself in the best way. Session2 Challenging Interview Questions: Questions to stretch and challenge a candidate Lesson Objective: To discuss and answer a series of questions that will challenge the students to think differently. Session 3 School Specific Questions: Why do you want to go to this school? Lesson Objective: To discuss with the group why you want to go to your chosen school rather than any of the other schools available. Session 4 School Specific Questions: Why should this school offer you a place? Lesson Objective: To discuss with the group what makes you special as a child, as an individual and as a student – why should this school offer you a place? Session 5: Mock Interview and Final Feedback Lesson Objective: To practise their interview skills and questions in a formal setting. To receive and discuss feedback
