Phase 3: 1-to-6 course. Phase 3 content. This course focuses on the art of speech-making. By studying great speech-makers of the past, students will develop their own speech-writing and presentation skills. We will analyse the skills needed to make an effective speech and students will be able to apply those skills to their own practical work. By the end of the course, everyone will have written and recorded their own speech, employing some of the techniques used by some of the greatest speakers of the past and present Lesson 1: Text: Jesus of Nazareth Rhetorical technique: polyptoton Performance technique: Appearing calm and confident Content: All students will have a chance to perform an existing speech (or section) and to record it. Decide on the subject for your own speech. Lesson 2: Text: William the Conqueror Rhetorical technique: anadiplosis Performance technique: Pace Content: Analysis of speaker's technique - Development of own speech. Apply the rhetorical technique Lesson 3: Text: Martin Luther King Rhetorical technique: anaphora Performance technique: Variety Content: Analysis of speaker's technique - Development of own speech.
